The most comprehensive college information site. College Board Online includes College Board tests, programs, and online registration, a "Test Question of the Day," a searchable database of colleges, financial aid information (including a financial aid calculator), career planning information, a fee-based essay evaluation service, online shopping, and more.

Peterson's Education Center
Peterson's includes information about educational programs at all levels and provides searchable databases of colleges and academic programs.

Princeton Review Online
This extensive college and career information site includes timed tests, essay hints, an internship database, job hunting hints, career lists by salary and industry, career profiles, and more.

CollegeView
CollegeView is a free online college search service with profiles of 3,700+ colleges and universities, virtual tours of selected schools, electronic applications, financial aid information, and career planning tools.

IDENTIFYING POTENTIAL COLLEGES 

CollegeNET
CollegeNET provides separate databases for four-year colleges and also for community, technical, and junior colleges and takes you to the actual Web sites of the colleges. The four-year college database is searchable by geography, tuition, enrollment, and potential college major.

College Search
From the College Board, College Search can help students identify potential colleges. This site includes a searchable database of over 3,200 institutions.

Study Abroad
Listed are thousands of academic programs in more than 100 countries throughout the world, with links to study abroad programs, academic courses, and internships. The programs are searchable by country, subject, and language.

U.S. News and World Report
This comprehensive site includes college and university rankings, reprinted articles from the print edition, listings of women's colleges, black colleges, and more. Features the top 25 schools in several categories taken from the magazine's 1998 edition of America's Best Colleges.

CASHE (College Aid Sources for Higher Education)

CASHE provides a searchable database including information about scholarships, fellowships, grants, work study, loan programs, tuition waivers, internships, competitions, and cooperative work programs.

Pay for College
Provided by the College Board, this extensive site includes debt planning tips, college cost and expected family contribution worksheets, and information about a variety of loan programs.

From the College Board, this site includes 350 online applications (so far) for students who will be applying to college this year.

Texas Common Application
Apply for admission to all four year public institutions in Texas at this Web site. Students can also complete scholarship applications for these same institutions at this Web site.

Career Development Manual, (Career Services, University of Waterloo)
From the Department of Career Services at the University of Waterloo, Canada, this site provides a thoughtful, interactive guide to career planning beginning with a multi-step, self-assessment inventory (step 1) and continuing through Employment Contacts (step 4) to Career/Life Planning (step 6). Note: The Development Manual may be duplicated for educational uses.

Mapping Your Future
This extensive site provides information and links to a variety of college and career planning organizations.
